Terms of use

The deal, in plain English.

◆ What this site is

A plain-English report of the public parliamentary record.

The Floor summarises what was said and voted in the Australian Parliament, drawn from the official Hansard record, and lets you add your own vote as public sentiment. Using the site means you accept these terms. We are not affiliated with the Parliament of Australiaor any party, and nothing here is legal, financial or professional advice — it's civic information, prepared with care, by a small team using AI drafting with human review (exactly how, here).

◆ Accuracy & corrections

Fair report, honestly maintained — not infallible.

We work hard to make every card a fair and accurate report of the official record, and every card links to its Hansard source so you can check us. Mistakes are still possible. If you find one, email register@thefloor.com.au and we'll correct promptly and visibly. Views quoted on cards belong to the parliamentarians who expressed them, not to us. To the extent permitted by law (including the Australian Consumer Law, whose guarantees we can't and don't exclude), we're not liable for decisions made in reliance on the site.

◆ Your account & conduct

One person, one vote — the honour system, enforced.

Sign in with your own email only. One vote per person per card is enforced technically; don't try to get around it with multiple accounts, automation or anything similar — votes here are a public mood-check, and gaming them wrecks the one thing that makes them worth having. Don't interfere with the site's operation (scraping at abusive rates, probing, disrupting). We can suspend or remove accounts that break these rules, and remove votes we reasonably believe are inauthentic.

◆ Content & ownership

The record belongs to the public. Our words belong to us.

Parliamentary material (speeches, votes, bill texts) is from the official record of the Parliament of Australia. Our summaries, design and code are © The Floor. You're welcome to share cards and quote us with attribution and a link — that's the point — but don't republish the site wholesale or pass our work off as yours.

◆ Housekeeping

Changes, privacy, and where the law lives.

We may update these terms as the site grows; the current version always lives at this address, and material changes will be visible here. How we handle your data is at /privacy. These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. If any part of them turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
